Leaving a hot Calgary for our summer vacation

It was so darn hot in Calgary the week before we left. Over 30C was the norm and even late at night we still had way over 20C in our house. One night I woke up feeling parched and checked the thermostat and it said 26C at 2:30am, sigh.

Birdie was almost naked most of the time and was wearing only a thin and short PJ at night. Our house was clean and decluttered for future viewings and we had no swimmingpool for Birdie. One thing you learn with a baby is that the simplest things are often the best. No expensive toy was able to compete with her favourite measuring spoon or cup. Keeping that in mind I filled one salad bowl with water and gave her some smaller toys to play with. It was a hit and more than welcome in the heat.

We were greeted by rain and clouds in Germany and apart from a couple of hours here and there the weather has not improved. Apparently this will change over the weekend. Yay! I packed lightly and definitely not for a cooler climate and rain. Birdie has a lot of shorts and short sleeved shirts in her bag that we have not unpacked. We have almost 5 more weeks to go and we are optimistic. Everything is better than 32C and no air-conditioning.
